Game Master's FAQ
KantCon's mission is to develop an inclusive, welcoming, community-oriented tabletop game convention in the Kansas City area, fostering a fun environment for all ages to be able to play, share, and give back together. We are a not-for-profit volunteer group that organizes three to four days of fun every summer since 2009. Over the course of the convention, KantCon hosts a wide range of gaming events from board games, card games, roleplaying, miniatures and more. Attendees also can enjoy access to the huge KantCon Game Library with hundreds of games available for check out to play on the fly.
We are a family friendly event that encourages everyone to be courteous and welcoming, especially to new gamers. There will also be exhibitors that sell gaming-related merchandise as well as some artists that display their work. But mostly there are just a lot of games; people teaching and learning how to play games; people winning and losing games; and everyone having fun.

The legend surrounding KantCon’s mascot are pieced together from stories spanning centuries. With the exception of Sara Rude-McCune, no one still living has any first-hand knowledge of “Cedric” (at least, that’s what Sara calls him).
Earliest sources place him in Tibet around 800 CE. Whether he hatched there or travelled there from elsewhere is not known. The centerpiece of his treasure hoard was then said to be a solid gold, life size, ḍākinī statue. Whether he stole the statue or somehow managed to turn a live ḍākinī into gold only Cedric knows.
When the blue dragon came to The States is not precisely known, but there are more than a few tales of a “monster” involving itself in the Civil War near Newport, Arkansas. Apparently, Cedric raided ships, North and South, that made use of the White River as part of their supply route.
Cedric currently resides somewhere in Kansas. Exactly where is not something those in the know have ever been willing to share. It is speculated that those who have encountered Cedric and been spared are sworn to secrecy under some dire threat. In Sara’s case, I suspect she is simply keeping her relationship with Cedric—and her privileged access to his considerable hoard—all to herself. She eludes attempts to follow, but Sara’s trips to Cedric’s lair do show interesting patterns. She always leaves in a car loaded with Cheetos and Mountain Dew. Upon return, she occasionally has a new game: board game, card game, dice game, … Sometimes it’s a popular new game, but more often it’s a rare collectable.
KantCon management discourages attempts to contact Cedric.
